Privacy Policy

Rowland's Plumbing ("we", "us", "our") is a locally owned plumbing company in Stettler, Alberta. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and other applicable Canadian privacy laws. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

By using this website, booking with us or letting us work in your home, you agree to the collection, use and sharing of your information as described here.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to quote, book and complete your job:

• Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and service address or postal code.
• Job details: a description of the work, preferred appointment times, access notes (such as gate codes or pets on site), and any photos you send us.
• Billing details: quotes, invoices, payment records and, for paid bookings, payment information. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we never see or store full card numbers.
• Communications: notes from phone calls, emails and messages about your job.
• Photos of our work: see "Photos of our work" below.

How we collect it

• When you book a diagnostic or request a quote through the forms on this website.
• When you call or email us, or use our customer portal to view quotes, invoices or appointments.
• While we are on site doing the work.

How we use it

• To respond to your request, prepare quotes and schedule appointments.
• To do the work, send invoices, collect payment and honour our warranties and guarantees.
• To contact you about your job, including appointment reminders, updates and follow-ups by phone, text message or email.
• To ask for feedback or a review after the job. Leaving one is always optional.
• To keep business records as required by law, such as tax and accounting records.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We will not send you promotional emails or texts unless you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time.

Photos of our work

We take photos before, during and after our work. These photos help us keep accurate job records, stand behind our warranty and guarantees, check quality, and answer any questions that come up later.

We may also share photos of our work on this website, on social media and in other marketing to show the kind of work we do. When we do:

• We focus on the plumbing, not on you, your family or your belongings.
• We do not show faces, house numbers, street signs, licence plates, mail, documents or anything else that could identify you or your home, unless you have given us permission.
• We never publish your name or address alongside photos of your job.

If you would prefer that we don't photograph your home, or that we don't use photos of your job for marketing, just let us know before or after the job. If you ever want a photo of your home taken down from our website or social media, contact us and we will remove it from the places we control as soon as we reasonably can.

Reviews

If you leave us a public review on Google or another site, that review is governed by that site's terms. We may share the text of public reviews on our website. We show the review wording only, not your full name or contact details. If you would like a review removed from our website, let us know.

Who we share it with

We only share personal information when we need to, and only what is needed:

• Service providers who help us run the business. The main one is Jobber, the scheduling, quoting and invoicing software that powers our booking forms, customer portal and appointment reminders. We also use payment processors, accounting software and email and phone services.
• Suppliers or manufacturers, when needed to order parts or process a warranty claim on a product installed in your home.
• Inspectors or authorities, when required for permits or inspections, or when otherwise required or allowed by law.
• A future owner, if our business is ever sold, so they can continue serving you under this policy.

Our service providers may only use your information to provide services to us, and must protect it.

Storage outside Canada

Some of our service providers, including Jobber and its hosting and payment partners, may store or process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States. They do this to host our software, process payments and send reminders on our behalf. While your information is outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessed by its courts, law enforcement or government authorities. Cookies and third-party services

This website does not use its own tracking or advertising cookies. It does use a few services from other companies:

• Jobber booking forms, which may use cookies and Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam.
• Google Fonts, which provides the typefaces on this site.
• Links to Google Maps, our Google reviews and our Jobber customer portal. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. This includes the length of our warranties and guarantees, and the time needed to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements (usually at least six years for financial records). After that, we securely delete it or make it anonymous.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including password-protected accounts, reputable software providers and limited access. Only people who need your information to do their job can see it. No system is perfectly secure, but if a privacy breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta as required by law.

Your choices and rights

You can:

• Ask to see the personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
• Withdraw your consent to us using your information, subject to legal or contractual limits. If you do, we may not be able to provide some services.
• Ask us not to photograph your home, or to take down photos of your job.
• Opt out of promotional messages at any time.

To make a request, contact our privacy contact below. We will respond within 45 days, as required by PIPA. Access requests are usually free; if a request would involve significant cost, we will tell you first.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

Children

Our website and services are meant for adults arranging work on their homes. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. The current version is always posted on this page.
